Spring Cleaning Tips | Easy Spring Cleaning Ideas 1 of 2

Ahhh, Spring Cleaning time is right around the corner. A great time of the year to clean out the house of unwanted clutter and spruce up areas of your home that may have been neglected during the winter. Whether you are the type of person to deep spring clean the whole house, or are thinking to yourself, "what's spring cleaning?" I have some easy tips to help you get started in this 2 part blog series!

Did you know, there are ways to make cleaning large areas easier and more efficient? What if I told you with one simple trick, I could make cleaning your windows, couches, fireplaces or showers look like you hired a professional?

When cleaning large areas of space, whether it be a spilled drink on the carpet or the entire shower, START SMALL. Most people, when cleaning large areas use big strokes wiping their cloth from one side of the shower enclosure to the next. If you have a hard to clean area, although this may seem faster, it won't actually clean your surface and you are stuck doing it over.

When professionals clean, they work in small 1 to 2 foot areas at a time (for large surfaces like windows and showers) or small 5-6 inch areas (for spot cleaning or stains). Using smaller, tighter strokes your cleaning is more efficient and more successful at getting rid of dirt and grime.

If you have a carpet stain, try dividing it into 4 small sections and work with short 5-6 inch strokes, you will be amazed at the difference that one little change makes in how clean your stain comes.

How To Remove Crayon From Carpets | Remove Crayon from Couches

If you have children, or have ever had children in your home, chances are crayon has ended up somewhere it wasn't supposed to be. Quick 'n Brite light cleaning solution easily removes crayons from hard surfaces like tables, chairs and counters; but when crayons get into carpet, upholstery and other fabrics the wax can be very difficult to remove. One great thing about Quick n Brite is it is 100% environmentally safe, non-toxic & biodegradable so it is safe to have around your kids and pets.

HOW TO REMOVE CRAYON WAX FROM CARPETS AND FABRICS
Crayons in carpets, clothing and upholstery can be one of the most difficult areas to clean. Depending on the color of the crayon and color of the fabric, as well as the amount of crayon used, this can be a very tricky cleaning area that may require more than one application or technique.

To start with:

1. Using a fork, knife or comb scratch the spot lightly towards the center removing as much wax residue as possible.

2. Then, apply Quick 'n Brite paste full strength using a wet terry cloth towel to the spot and rub back and forth in short 5 to 6 inch strokes. For some people, this is the only step needed to remove the crayon wax.

3. Let the Quick 'n Brite sit for 10 minutes if it is not instantly removed.

4. Using a dry terry cloth towel, buff out the remaining stain.

5. At this point, if there is still a stained area repeat the process once more. If you are not successful in removing all the crayon stains, continue onto Step 6.

For most people, the stain will be lifted after steps 1-5, if there is a large amount of wax or the wax is a dark color like red or blue some people find the iron-transfer method to work best.

6. Lay a brown paper bag over the remaining wax spot (it will work better if area is still damp from Quick 'n Brite, so don't worry)

7. Using an iron set on low heat move the iron slowly back and forth over top of the brown paper bag. The heat will cause the wax to melt and the paper bag will absorb the remaining wax.

8. Keep ironing over a clean piece of bag until the spot has been fully absorbed.

If cleaning the oven isn't on the top of your priority list, over the year the spilled food and cooked on messes can really add up. Even if you have a self cleaning oven, the self cleaning cycle can take hours and fill your home with a thick cloud of black, smelly smoke, not to mention the energy the cleaning cycle consumes. Whether you have a quick "spill-over" to clean up, or months of baked on food Quick n Brite can tackle any size job without using chemicals.

The first thing you want to do is brush out the majority of the food residue using a small handle broom, paper towels, or even a handheld nozzle on a vacuum or shopvac on low, depending on the degree of the mess. Make sure to use extra caution near the lighting elements. Then, apply Quick n Brite full strength using a wet scrub sponge or brush. Much like cleaning your fireplace (see directions here), it is easiest if you split the oven into sections and clean small areas at a time. Starting towards the top, apply the Quick n Brite cleaner in small 5-6 inch sections using a circular scrubbing motion and work your way down the sides of the oven, and finally to the bottom. Next, repeat the same process on the oven door, working in small sections. Remember, Quick n Brite works best when left to sit and results aren't always instant. After the Quick n Brite is applied onto your oven, shut the door and turn your oven on low for 10-15 minutes. Turn off the oven and allow time for it to cool, then using a damp terry cloth towel simply wipe out the remaining residue in your oven. You will not need any elbow grease or masks for the noxious fumes! With Quick n Brite, cleaning your oven is an easy and approachable job!
